ABOUT US
The Deaf Set is a specialist deaf consultancy organisation working across television, film, theatre and the wider creative industries.
Founded by Tobi, a CODA (child of deaf adults) and experienced media sign language interpreter, The Deaf Set was created to help bridge the gap between the creative industries and the deaf community.
Over the years, we've worked alongside deaf actors, presenters, contributors and creatives on some of the UK's biggest productions. That experience has given us a unique understanding of what genuinely inclusive production looks like and, importantly, what can happen when accessibility and deaf expertise are brought in too late.
Today, our work has evolved.
Our main focus is now consultancy, training and BSL expertise, working with productions and organisations to embed deaf awareness, access and authentic representation from the beginning.
Our connection to deaf talent remains an important part of who we are. While we no longer focus primarily on traditional talent representation, productions looking for deaf actors, presenters and creatives can still come to us and we'll help make connections wherever we can.
CONSULTANCY
Good deaf representation starts before somebody arrives on set. We work with producers, commissioners, directors, writers, casting teams and production companies to make sure deaf inclusion is considered from the earliest stages of a project.
Our consultancy can cover development, scripts, casting, sign language and cultural authenticity, working practices, access requirements, production planning, on-set support and post-production. Every project is different, so our support is tailored to what your production actually needs.

We work with productions from the very beginning, offering practical, creative, and cultural guidance at every stage.
Whether you're writing a script, casting a role, planning a shoot or heading into the edit, we provide consultants who understand both the Deaf community and the production process.
We’ve supported productions like Bridgerton, Doctor Who, Reunion, Sex Education, and Code of Silence, as well as national events including The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, The King’s Coronation, and The Paralympics.
From script to screen, we’re with you every step of the way.
AGENCY
We represent a small, handpicked group of Deaf actors working across stage and screen.
Their credits include Silent Witness, Code of Silence, Reunion, Grantchester, EastEnders, Olivier-nominated theatre and productions at Shakespeare’s Globe. This is a team with real range, from prime-time TV to festival-winning drama. One of our actors recently won Best Actor at Series Mania for a leading role in a BBC series.
We support both the actor and the production team so that everyone can focus on the work.
